On Saturday, September 24, Cueroites were treated to a unique combination of Cuero’s early history and the elegance of costumes from four world famous Turkey Trots, when the De Witt County Historical Commission celebrated Cuero’s 150 th Birthday with a special edition of it’s annual “Lives Remembered” program. The event was held at the Friar Ag Center which as PeggyLedbetter, Chairman of the Commission said, “was the perfect venue” for the two-part Program; the first of which featured a digital pictorial documentary of the earliest days of Cuero and was followed by a live procession of Turkey Trot Royalty and Courtiers.

The Cuero School District and Lifeway School met at their school flag poles Wednesday, September 27, to pray in unison at the annual ‘See You at the Pole’ event. Students, teachers, administrators and school employees, along with some parents, bowed their heads in prayer for their schools, friends, teachers, government, and nation.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar Announces Record $344 Million in Unclaimed Property Returned in Fiscal 2023

The Texas Comptroller’s office approved and paid out a record $344 million in unclaimed property during the past fiscal year, Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today. The record in unclaimed property returns tops the $309 million returned to rightful property owners in fiscal 2022, and it is the fourth time in the last five fiscal years the Comptroller’s office has returned $300 million or more in unclaimed property.
