Lois Diana Kelch, age 69, formerly of Yoakum, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023.

She was born April 10, 1954 in Hallettsville to Edwin Carl and Ida Ellen Wunderlich Kelch.

Lois graduated from Yoakum High School in 1972 and went to Texas Lutheran College for two years to pursue a teaching degree but her dreams were halted due to vision problems. Lois worked at Texas Lutheran College in admissions and the library while attending college. Following her college years, she went to work for Tandy Brands where she painted belts and buckles for several years followed by making screw on belts/buckles and tips along with working in the shipping department for two years. Lois and her family also assisted in the delivery of the Victoria Advocate newspaper or as she said “throwing the newspaper”. Later Lois worked for DeWitt County Senior Citizens. She assisted in the preparing and delivering of meals to shut in senior citizens for 10 years.

Lois was always getting into mischief as a child and was told she was 10 times worse than her older cousins and nothing could have prepared her parents/ grandparents. She had a love for all animals and often brought them into the house without her parents’ knowledge.

Lois was a caregiver to both of her parents until they passed away. Her hobbies were crafting, bead work, photography, dominos, playing cards, and loved to visit with family and friends. She never met a stranger. She would visit with you for hours and was a great storyteller.

She was a faithful Christian and a devoted and caring friend. She was definitely a willing participate to all things her cousins could come up with and enjoyed “girl’s nights”.

Survivors: include cousins Alice, Stephanie, Loys, Margaret, Carl, Kristine and families and Frank Rogge; great friend and caregiving angel, June Buchhorn.

Preceded in death by: parents, grandparents, and her beloved pet, Cookie.
