Ray Allen Thieme

Ray Allen Thieme, 68, of Nordheim, Texas passed away at home in the comfort of family and friends on May 26, 2023. Ray entered peacefully into his eternal rest after a 15-year battle from Esophageal throat cancer.

He was born September 17, 1954 to the late Clarence John and Dorothy Elaine Kenne Thieme. He grew up on the family farm in Nordheim, one of eight children. Ray was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Yorktown, and attended school in Nordheim, graduating in 1973. Ray worked in the oilfield for years with Harkins, Southland Drilling, Marine Drilling and was a toolpusher for Patterson UTI before he got cancer. He really liked working derricks, he said he could see everything from up there.

Ray enjoyed life, family and friends. He worked cows, rode horses, enjoyed farming and working on tractors. He’d throw something on the BBQ pit at the drop of a hat and call everybody for food and a good cold beer. He enjoyed hunting, dominoes, watching Gunsmoke and taking Wandi dancing around the floor at Nordheim Shooting Club Hall. Ray was a member of the South Texas Outlaws doing skits of the “Old West”, he loved that! In 1978, Ray met and married his soulmate Wanda Gayle Rogge Thieme. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers Dennis and Robert Thieme, and father- in-law Arlin Rogge.

Ray is survived by his wife Wandi of 45 years, sons Kenneth (Cathy) Thieme, of San Antonio, Clinton Thieme, of Yorktown and daughter Ellie Marie Thieme, of Nordheim, his grandchildren always made him smile, they are Alexandria, Raylan and Harley Thieme; Kelley and Kaitlyn Wilson; and little Rhett Thieme is due in November. Ray is survived by brothers Clarence, Oliver, and Norvell (Wanda) Thieme and sisters Kathy (Gary) Harpst and Shirley Dueser, and uncle Wilbur (Ruth) Kenne, mother- in-law Gilda Rogge, brothers-in-law Wade (Buffie) Rogge, Craig Rogge, sister-in-law Shari (Frank) Gerking. Also, many nieces and nephews.

The story of Ray’s life was full and he will be so missed. Till we see you again “Ray Bob” Love Always, “Belle” The family wish to thank all our family and friends for all your love and support through these years.

The doctors and staff at UTMB Galveston and League City for giving us many years of time, Dr. Barth and Dr. Denton and staff at Yorktown Medical Clinic, doctors and staff of DeTar Navarro Hospital, Victoria Kidney and Dialysis, Pastor Johnathan Mollenkopf and nurses and staff at Crown Hospice for their love and care and Massey Funeral Home.

Visitation 2-4 pm Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Massey Funeral Home. Celebration of life 2-5 pm Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Nordheim Park Lounge in Nordheim, Texas.

Honorary pallbearers Howard Helmers, Jim Fulbright, Phillip Baumann, Luke Durio, Keith Lapp and Maurice Johnson.
