Meyersville NJHS donates to Pet Adoptions of Cuero

The Meyersville ISD National Junior Honor Society Spring project to Cuero Pet Adoptions was a success. The NJHS members would like to thank everyone that donated gift cards, pet food, money, and other miscellaneous items to the drive. The members delivered the items to the Cuero Pet Adoption Center on Friday March10. Last Fall, the group sponsored their “Snuggle a Child in Warmth” drive. The coats and other donated items were given to the Cuero Department of Family Services. Pirates have another busy week

The Nordheim Pirates began their sports week with a golf tournament in Hallettsville, rainy cool conditions made the day less than desirable but the Pirates gave it their best shots. For the varsity boys Brayden Jennings placed 12th with Jolan (JJ) Witacre placing 18th overall. Shay Wagner had the best finish of the day for the Pirates placing 9th overall in the varsity girls division.

On Thursday, March 23, 2023, the Yorktown Track and Field Relays were held. Nine teams, including Yorktown, competed in JV and Varsity Boys and Girls Divisions.

The Cuero JV baseball squad had a pair of games last week with Calhoun and ended the pair of games with a loss and a tie. In the first of two games on Thursday, the Gobblers JV fell behind early and could not find their way back in a 4-2 loss.

Baker leads Varsity to shutout against Goliad

Jacob Baker brought his A-game to the mound last week for the Cuero Gobblers as they shutout Goliad 3-0 last Wednesday. Baker pitched seven innings and allowed just one hit and struck out 13 in a stellar performance on the hill for Cuero.

Wildcats split for the week

The Yorktown Wildcat Baseball team is in a district with Pettus, Skidmore-Tynan, Kenedy, Woodsboro, Three Rivers, Refugio, Port Aransas, and Runge. On Tuesday, March 14, they played the Kenedy Lions at home. The Wildcats were trailing 0-2 after the first inning. Philip Yeretsky was on the mound for Yorktown. Jayden Rodriguez, third baseman, fielded the ball and threw the last batter out at first to end the inning.

Longoria named to All-Region team
