Melvin Ray Borgfeld was born on April 15, 1939, in Weesatche, TX, to his parents, Ruben and Elorene Borgfeld. He went to be with our Lord on April 28, 2025, in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by his family at the age of 86 years old. Melvin grew up in Yorktown, TX on a farm with his family, which taught him hard work and dedication. He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1958. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Kay Franke Guzman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Yorktown Community. Carol passed away peacefully April 21, 2025 at the age of 82. Born on July 12, 1942 in Goliad County, Carol was a pillar of kindness, compassion, and generosity in her community. She dedicated her life to serving others, always putting the needs of her family, friends, and neighbors before her own. Whether it was helping special needs kids at the school in Yorktown, taking care of patients as a nurse at Yorktown Medical Clinic, or sitting with elderly patients in their home, she was a constant source of support and warmth. James DeWitt “Jay” Bramlette III, 74, of Cuero passed away peacefully at his home on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025. Jay, son of the late J.D. Bramlette Jr. and Merle Rose Fischer Bramlette, was born March 27, 1951 in San Antonio. After graduating from Cuero High School, he attended Texas A&I University in Kingsville. On his drive home from school in the Spring of 1971, Jay made the decision to go to mortuary school. He attended Commonwealth College of Sciences that fall and graduated as a Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Jay owned Freund Funeral Home in Cuero until his retirement in 2010. Jay married Cheryl Roth Bramlette on July 3, 1986 in Cuero. They were members of First Presbyterian Church where Jay served as a Deacon for many years. 04/23/2025 01:32 PM

Dorothy Elizabeth Ware St. Clair, 90, of Magnolia peacefully passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025. She was born May 19, 1934 in Gonzales, TX to Granvil and Ruthie Hopkins Ware. In her early years, she worked at the Cotton Mill in Cuero, TX where she met the love of her life, Jackie William St. Clair. They were married on September 9, 1955 at the Church of Christ in Cuero. She also worked at the Amusement Machine Commission, the Comptroller’s Office and Texas Rehabilitation. She retired from the State of Texas. Dorothy loved to sew, and made several leisure suits for Jackie and clothes for her daughter. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing the organ and was an AVID Bingo player. She volunteered for meals-on-wheels, was the President of the Ladies Auxiliary Moose Lodge of Austin, TX, President and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Plumbers and Pipefi tters Local 790 club of Victoria. She and Jackie traveled to London and France to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. She visited Dollywood and always enjoyed a Big Thanksgiving and Christmas. 04/02/2025 12:26 PM

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1970-1973. During his time in the service, he worked as a military policeman and earned the rank of sergeant.
