Jennifer Joyce Sweat Mungia graced this world on February 19, 1979. She was born in Victoria, Texas to Harvel Sweat and Tommie Kozok Gips. Her laughter and love have always been bold and beautiful. Jennifer graduated from Yorktown High School after blessing us with the best Wally the Wildcat to this date and a long list of impactful speeches. Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball, school fundraisers, One Act Play, pep rallies, UIL, and many other organizations benefitted greatly from her wonderful contributions.

Dianne Poetter Simpson, a remarkable woman known for her kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 2, 1932, in Yorktown, Texas, to Wilbert Charles and Virginia Lee Taylor Poetter, Dianne was a descendant of the pioneering Taylor family, who arrived in Texas before the establishment of The Republic of Texas. Her grandfather, John Milam Taylor, played an integral role as a rancher near Yorktown, instilling in her a deep appreciation for heritage and community.

Kathy Lou Aschenbeck, 68, of Victoria went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was born December 20, 1956 in San Antonio to Ernest and Mabel McBride Denson. She married Darrell Aschenbeck on August 6, 1976 in Cuero. She was a sales associate for Ashley Furniture in Victoria. Some of her treasured accomplishments were homeschooling her son and being a great sales person. She enjoyed playing cards and doing puzzles, but her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family.

Vicki Harmon Barnes
Vicki Harmon Barnes, 88, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born May 2, 1936 in Newcastle, TX to Eugene and Nora Collins Harmon. She worked for Texas Electric Company in Monahans, TX as a customer service representative for twenty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cuero and loved her church family. She kept close tabs on all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved getting new pictures from them. She enjoyed living in the country and never met a dog she didn’t like! Her love and compassion for friends and family will be missed.

Wayne Sparck, 70, of Yorktown passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was born September 29, 1954 in Yorktown to Vernon Sparck and Wilma Butschek Billings. Wayne married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Ryan, on June 14, 1975 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cuero. He worked as a chemist at Merichem in the Houston area for over 30 years before moving to Evansville, IN to work for Chem Group. He loved his many Siberian Huskies, hunting, attending church, and spending time outdoors after retiring back to Yorktown.

Enrique “Henry” L. Amador
Enrique “Henry” L. Amador 64 of Yorktown died Friday February 21, 2025, in Yorktown. He was born July 15, 1960, in Yorktown to the late Raul and Tomasita Abrigo Amador. Henry spent 42 years with the City of Yorktown advancing to becoming Water and Street Superintendent, retiring from service in 2023. He was a wealth of knowledge of the infrastructure of the City of Yorktown. In his earlier years he enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball. Also enjoyed going fishing with his longtime childhood friend Joe Dee Cornish III.

Edmund Gerald “Jerry” Sager, 83, of Cuero passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in Austin. He was born May 9, 1941 in Cuero to Edmund Gus and Lorene V. Dreier Sager. He married Abigail Ava Rodriguez on December 22, 1991 in Gonzales. He worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service after forty years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, cowboy action shooting and canoeing. He also enjoyed attending the Santa Fe Indian Market with his wife every summer and occasionally served as a judge.

He was an entrepreneur starting businesses such as renting houses, Anchor Dozer Service, working in the oilfield, raising cattle and becoming Executive Vice President for Saw Drilling Company. He was a wonderful father, role model with a very compassionate heart towards others. He was also a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Earle Boothe
Graveside services for Mr. Earle Boothe, 81, of Henderson, were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Overton City Cemetery with Amy Blanton officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Crawford- A. Crim Funeral Home. The family received friends from 5 7 PM Monday, February 24, at the funeral home. Mr. Boothe passed from this life on February 20, 2025, in Kilgore. He was born April 27, 1943, in Cuero, Texas, the middle child of the late Joe Henry and Wilamynor Boothe, and he was saved at the age of 6. Earle served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict and later embarked on a 40 year career as the owner and operator of Earle Boothe Concrete. He loved to hunt and fish, and it brought him great joy to watch his grandkids play softball and baseball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Jaxen Boothe, sisters Linda "Lyni" Kite and Diana Boothe, and his mother-in-law Martha Bundrick. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jan Boothe of Henderson; son, Jason Boothe and wife Cassidy of Henderson; grandchildren, Jacie Boothe, Cameren Melton, Cohen Boothe; sisters-inlaw, Jo Ann Bundrick of Henderson and Nancy King of Longview; extended family, Chad Boatwright, and Juan and Jasmin Castaneda and family; and special nieces and nephews. Honorary Pallbearers were Bobby Smith, Bob Cartwright,, Dale McKinnon, Scott Turner, Wilson Welburn, and Jack Gibson.
