La Flor de Guanajuato Ice Cream Shop celebrates opening

A ribbon cutting was recently hosted by the Cuero Chamber of Commerce at La Flor de Guanajuato Ice Cream Shop. La Flor is located at 1145 N. Esplanade in Cuero and are open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. La Flor was also named the Cuero Chamber Business of the month for July. They have a great selection of delicious ice cream, fresh fruit cups, fruit juices, flan and much more, which is all made fresh in the store. They also have piñatas available for purchase.

DeWitt County 4-H Council Officers hosting Open House August 31

The DeWitt 4-H Council is hosting an “I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for 4-H” Open House. The open house will be held on Thursday, August 31st, from 5-7 PM at the Anne Friar Thomas Homemaking Building. We invite all current 4-H members and new families interested in 4-H to join us! Come learn about all that 4-H has to offer and enjoy ice cream from Green Cow Creamery. We will be sharing information about our 7 clubs in the county as well as all the project clubs and activities. Projects and activities available include leadership, livestock show, homemaking, food & nutrition, shooting sports, horse project, photography, livestock judging, horticulture, and more. DeWitt County 4-H shotgun team competes

The DeWitt County 4-H Shotgun Team traveled to Houston to shoot in the Southeast Texas Scholarship Spectacular Shoot August 4 - 6. Four members of the team competed in shooting Skeet, Sporting Clays, 5 Stand, Whizbang and Super Sporting. They were Carter Roeder, Kaitlyn Roeder, Gunnar Frank, Elias Gomez.

Gwosdz earns college credit with college board exam

For the second consecutive year, Yorktown High School has produced a student who earned college credit on an Advanced Placement Exam. Jaclyn Gwosdz, 2023 valedictorian, passed the Advanced Placement Calculus AB exam to receive college credit. Gwosdz begins her higher education career this fall at Texas A & M University in College Station.

Lillian Stubbs Reid celebrated her 90th birthday Saturday August 5, with a surprise party at Chisholm Trail Museum with over 100 family and friends in attendance. Lillian Mavene Stubbs was born on August 9, 1933 in her childhood home at 605 N. Troy in Victoria.
