This past Saturday, March 23, 2024, the Yorktown Kitty Kat and Wildcat Track teams competed at the Skidmore- Tynan Bobcat Relays with much success. Besides Yorktown and Skidmore-Tynan, the other schools competing were: Aransas Pass, Incarnate Word Academy, Mathis, Odem, Pettus, and Victoria Home School. The Varsity Kitty Kats placed first in the Varsity Girls division, while the JV Kitty Kats placed 2nd in the JV Girls division. The Varsity Wildcats placed 2nd in the Varsity Boys Division and the JV Wildcats placed 6th in the JV Boys division.

The Texas High School Powerlifting Association held their state meet at the Taylor County Expo Center on March 23 in Abilene, Texas. Yorktown athletes Hunter Hall and Johnathon Guerrero both medaled in 1-2A Division 4.

The Varsity Wildcat golf team consisting of Dalton Eckhardt, Kolton Eckhardt, Cameron Willis, Connor Saunders, and Colton Rogers entered the Karnes County Golf Association Tournament this past Wednesday, March 20. The 5 team tournament was held at River Bend Golf Club in Floresville. Team members D. Eckhardt, K. Eckhardt, Saunders, and Willis were awarded gold medals for their first place finish. They shot a combined 336.

Don’t let your Fightin’ Cuero Gobblers record so far this season fool you, they are playing some exciting and hard fought games. Here are some photos from their game against Goliad where they fell 4-1.

Backed by another solid pitching performance by Carly Pullin, the Fightin’ Lady Gobblers defeated John F. Kennedy 17-2 in a shortened four inning game. Pullin pitched a complete game, giving up only three hits, while striking out six and walking only one batter. She also launched one of the three Cuero homeruns.

Your Fightin’ Lady Gobblers softball squad went on the road and improved their record to 171-1 with their 13-6 victory on Tuesday over Poth. Carly Pullin pitched a complete game, giving up 6 runs on 11 hits and had 7 strikeouts.

On March 8, 2024, Yorktown ISD hosted the Yorktown Junior High Relays, featuring teams from Kenedy, Meyersville, Nordheim, Prairie Lea, Runge, Skidmore- Tynan, Woodsboro and Yorktown. The 8th Grade Wildcats won the

Many high schools including Yorktown compete in powerlifting through the Texas High School Powerlifting Association or THSPA. The Wildcats had three boys advance to regionals in Kingsville. Justin Guerrero, Johnathon Guerrero, and Hunter Hall competed in Region 5 Division 4.

The Cuero Gobbler Golf Classic was recently held and the boys’ and girls’ teams represented our city well, with the Gobblers Green Team winning the Championship and the Lady Gobblers finished 3rd.
