After the major elections of 2024, this year’s elections will be much tamer with only local offices – that are contested – on the ballot. All the local government entities that have open positions for the May General Election have the same deadline of Friday, Feb. 14.

2025 Cuero ISD Western Art Show students capture top awards in Houston
The Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum (CTHM) is proudly showcasing the “Best of the Best” from the 2025 Cuero ISD Western Art Show and the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Show, running from February 4 to February 18 at 302 N. Esplanade St. The exhibition is organized by Cuero High School art teacher Heather Stewart, Junior High art teacher Kelle Clark, and Elementary art teacher Kelli Dingle.

Illegal white-tailed deer smuggling operation uncovered
AUSTIN – Texas Game Wardens have concluded an investigation that led to the arrest and conviction of two individuals involved in illegally moving captive whitetailed deer. A South Texas deer breeder and his business partner were caught attempting to smuggle seven deer from a licensed deer breeding facility in East Texas through Montgomery County to Brazoria and Duval counties, where they intended to illegally release the deer into the wild on private property.

Should you take on 30-30-30 weight loss trend?
Milwaukee, WI — During the first couple of months of the year, as people work to keep their New Year’s Resolutions, there’s all sorts of information online and on social media touting the best methods to lose weight, exercise, and eat right. One practice that went viral in late 2024 was the 30-30-30 method. The idea is to consume 30 grams of protein within the first 30 minutes of waking up and follow that with 30 minutes of low-intensity exercise.

The Cuero Record Devotional Page
As I was going through some of my files from years ago, I came across a hard copy of an email I received in 2011. This was the year I retired from the newspaper industry and as I reread this email it struck me on how I had used my time over my years of life. Was my time more beneficial for me or was is it used in some way to help or maybe inspire someone else?

Please donate blood on Feb 18 at City Hall
Hello my fellow Cueroites, Mr. Danny Rocha Jr. was given a retirement ceremony and a watch for his faithful service to the citizens of Cuero on January 23rd. Although a joyous occasion for the retiree, unfortunately the city loses experienced and highly skilled individuals. Mr. Rocha was a heavy equipment operator (backhoe), which takes years to master.
