COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M Forest Service is offering cost shares for Texas landowners to suppress the spread of oak wilt through the Texas Oak Wilt Suppression Program. Eligible oak wilt suppression practices through this program include trenching or removal of infected red oak trees.

Cuero Livestock Commission
MAY 16, 2025 NUMBER OF HEAD: 1292 Packer cows and bulls were consistent with last week’s prices. The cattle futures board dropped $6-7 the last few days which caused some fluctuations. Lighter cattle took the biggest hit in both classes. However, overall the market was fairly steady with last week’s numbers. Even with the futures board dropping this week, the market is still great. With the Mexican border closing, we anticipate cattle prices to rise.

CRH recognizes Men’s Health Month, encourages screenings
June marks Men’s Health Month and Hernia Awareness Month, and Cuero Health is urging men in our community to take charge of their health by scheduling routine visits with their primary care providers and staying up to date with recommended screenings. In honor of Men’s Health Month, Cuero Health will host their annual Men’s Health Golf Tournament on June 14th at the Cuero Municipal Golf Course to share important health topics, and enjoy a round of golf with health professionals.

District 27 Art Award
Kirsten Trevino, of Cuero High School, won the People’s Choice Award for District 27 Congressional Art Competition with her Prismacolor piece called “Texas Legacy.” Her piece will hang for the public to view in Congressman Michael Cloud’s district of_ce in Victoria for the next year. Nordheim valedictorian, salutatorian plan careers in agriculture
Brayden Jennings, valedictorian of the Nordheim High School Class of 2025, is the son of Ron and Jennifer Jennings and grandson of Tony and Sharon Guinn and Walter and Patsy Hilburn. He is a standout student and leader at NHS. He served as Student Council President and was a member of the Student Council for four years, as well as a member of the National Honor Society. A varsity athlete, he also held officer positions in FFA for three years— including president—earning the prestigious Lone Star FFA Degree. Graduating with a 3.9 GPA and an Associate of Arts Degree from Coastal Bend College, Brayden is an active community volunteer with Little League and the Nordheim Fire Department. He plans to attend Texas A&M University and later Texas A&M University Law School, pursuing a degree in Society, Ethics, and Law with a minor in Agribusiness.
