Dewitt County Historical Museum undergoes renovation
The history of De-Witt County is as old as the history of Texas itself. From early hunter-gatherers who roamed this area to the first settlers in 1826 with Empresario Green DeWitt, there is more than a lifetime of history to discover here. Preservation of the past can be a way to remember those who went before us, be it good or bad, with stories, histories and even everyday items.

Progress can be painful; Broadway open after utility work
Editor’s Note: This column was scheduled for the September 25 issue GOD first... Heavenly Father, we know that You know what is in our hearts when we pray. Those who pray for material things and wishful things can't be answered and if they are, it will be given only through Your own Amazing Grace. As our hearts open up to You, help us in all we do for those around us and grant us assurance that through Your will, it will be answered. We pray in the name of our Dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Americans’ right to speak their minds is considered sacred, which is why we must fight to protect the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and the Texas Citizens Participation Act. Both measures were carefully written with protection of the individual — the “little guy” — in mind. They’re designed to give a David a fighting chance if he finds himself in a legal duel with a Goliath.
