Family loses home in fire

A tragic fire broke out at 834 Metting School Rd. in Yorktown on March 24, resulting in the complete loss of the home. Manpower was limited, despite the response from multiple agencies. The Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), Nordheim Fire Department (FD), Cuero FD, Cuero VFD, and Westhoff FD all contributed to the ef- forts, along with the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office. Crews from Commissioners Ryan Varela’s Precinct 1 and James Kaiser’s Precinct 3, along with Yorktown and Cuero EMS, were also on site. 04/02/2025 12:26 PM
