GOD first...Heavenly Father, You know our fears and anxieties better than we do. We stir so many 'what ifs' in our minds that it almost drives us crazy. Father, we ask for strength to quell all of our 'what ifs' and place in our hearts the knowledge that You alone will carry us to greater things through Your Amazing Grace and calm all our bad thoughts as we ask in the name of our dear Savior, Jesus. Amen. 10/15/2024 02:48 PM

Going Old School
I’ve been fortunate to visit some of the very best largemouth bass lakes in the world, and I’m thankful that so many of those trips came at a time when fishing was still fishing. Not the video game it has become for so many since the evolution of high-tech electronics like forward-facing sonar, monster screens and other game changing goodies. 10/15/2024 02:48 PM

Dear Editor, Cuero is extremely fortunate to have an acute care hospital with its corresponding clinics. Providing healthcare has significant challenges. Taking calls, answering questions and scheduling appointments are currently some of the most substantial. 10/09/2024 02:23 PM

Wealth & Wisdom: What Will Be Your Legacy?
Wealth & Wisdom: What Will Be Your Legacy?
Do you know your great-grandparents’ name? According to a survey by Ancestry.com, half of Americans know the name of only one or none of their great-grandparents. But perhaps more importantly, do you know anything about them? In the financial planning process, financial advisors often ask about leaving a legacy—usually in the context of how much money you want to pass on to the next generation. 10/09/2024 02:23 PM

I read something not long ago that went like this; “A bad attitude is like a flat tire. You can’t go anywhere till you change it.” What words could be truer when someone is trying to advance their status among family, friends, and co-workers. 10/09/2024 02:23 PM

Hello Cuero, The trial Ruby’s Race Day Pancake Breakfast was a huge success: 115 plates were served by 17 volunteers from across the Cuero Community. Many businesses donated items and funds to support the event, and next week I will recognize all who supported both events. Please come out this Saturday morning and get a pancake, sausage and drink of your choice. Serving will begin at 7:30 am at the Downtown walkway; 300 plates will be served; seating will be available to enjoy your meal. Fill your belly, and make your way to cheer on Ruby and enjoy the Turkeyfest parade, first come, first serve. 10/09/2024 02:23 PM
Clean Up Donations
Clean Up Donations
This past weekend Keep Cuero Beautiful sponsored a city wide clean up event and invited “teams” of volunteers to pitch in and cover several areas of town. Trust Texas Cuero Bank employees signed up for the event and collected lots and lots of debris and then turned in their “haul” to be weighed. They were one of the three winning teams and their award was a $100 check. To make this a double/triple win they donated the check to Pet Adoptions of Cuero. The non profit shelter wins with funds to help their vet expenses, the City of Cuero won – all that trash picked up and the Trust Texas Bank staff won bragging rights for their efforts and dedication. Thanks to all who participated in this wonderful TRASH for CASH event. 10/09/2024 02:23 PM

Gobblers prevail with new quarterback, strong defense
With Jaxxon Marie out, the Gobblers are taking the next man up approach and have turned the offense over to Jayce Guajardo. The sophomore responded by going 6 of 10 for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns, propelling the Gobbler’s second half comeback against the Harlingen Cardinals on Friday night. 10/09/2024 02:23 PM
