No one from the public commented at the various DeWitt County Commissioners Court public hearings on Monday, but nonprofit groups praised area businesses and residents as generous donors. With great joy and gratitude, Georgina Sakyi, a graduate of Calhoun High School in Port Lavaca, Texas, graduates with her doctoral degree in School Psychology from the University of Houston in Houston in August 2024. Sakyi grew up in both Cuero and Port Lavaca under the guidance and support of her grandparents – Johnal and Viola Holman, Lois McFadden – and her parents – Paul and Taberoha (Tab) Jackson. Growing up, Sakyi was known for her voice, performing in school and church choirs, as well as her academic accomplishments as a member of the National Junior Honor Society at Travis Middle School and the National Honor Society at Calhoun. 08/21/2024 06:30 AM

The regular meeting of Cuero City Council on August 12 began with Public Comments from Former Mayor Buzz Edge urging Council to reconsider funding the Cuero Municipal Airport. The Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum’s German English School was the venue this month for the quarterly meeting of the Small Museums of South Texas group. It is a beautiful sunrise. The day is promising to be an awesome Saturday, and I am at the Cuero Park Pavilion, waiting to receive the microphone and welcome everyone to the tenth anniversary of the Ethosha Lynn Back to School Bash. What an honor. Shout out to The Tri-City Empowerment Council and numerous community sponsors for supporting, organizing and executing another successful event which was well attended.
