American Legion thanks community
Dear Editor, The members of Dinter Post 3 of the American Legion wish to express our appreciation to the Cuero community for its tremendous support of our Armed Forces Day BBQ chicken fundraiser, Saturday, May 17th. We were gratified by the turnout of people who purchased chickens, and we are especially grateful to the businesses and individuals who sponsored our fundraiser with donations. These sponsors included DeWitt County Co-Op, Leske Oil Company, The Pecan House, GVEC, State Farm Insurance, Diamond K Services, and Square E Security Storage. The post also received a very generous monetary donation from an individual donor who wishes to remain anonymous.

Reader recommends a local proofreader
Dear Editor, I look forward to receiving my online edition of the Cuero Record every Wednesday morning, and the May 21 edition was full of very interesting stories and information. I want to thank the Record staff for providing outstanding service to the community at a very reasonable cost. I realize occasional mistakes are inevitable, and it is not my intention to be critical of any reporters or editors. The story in “RecordSports” about Brad Goebel and his induction into the Texas High School Hall of Fame was very well written; however, a couple small errors could have been avoided with a little homework. I am not knowledgeable enough about newspaper proofreading and editing of local events to be overly judgmental or constructive. However, it would have been beneficial, in this instance, if someone with local knowledge could have proofread the story prior to its publication. Thank you again for keeping our community informed with your great service.
