It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carol Kay Franke Guzman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished member of the Yorktown Community. Carol passed away peacefully April 21, 2025 at the age of 82. Born on July 12, 1942 in Goliad County, Carol was a pillar of kindness, compassion, and generosity in her community. She dedicated her life to serving others, always putting the needs of her family, friends, and neighbors before her own. Whether it was helping special needs kids at the school in Yorktown, taking care of patients as a nurse at Yorktown Medical Clinic, or sitting with elderly patients in their home, she was a constant source of support and warmth. May’s Mental Health Awareness Month provides help
On May 27th, Mental Health Awareness Month began at Cuero Football Stadium. Cuero ISD and the Pilot Club of Cuero hosted this event as part of the S.T.O.P. initiative, which aims to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. S.T.O.P. is a step-by-step approach designed to support individuals who may be struggling with their mental health.
