Three talented student writers, remarkable area women and women important in Texas history were honored on March 9 at the Casino Hall in La Grange. Kathy Lou Aschenbeck, 68, of Victoria went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was born December 20, 1956 in San Antonio to Ernest and Mabel McBride Denson. She married Darrell Aschenbeck on August 6, 1976 in Cuero. She was a sales associate for Ashley Furniture in Victoria. Some of her treasured accomplishments were homeschooling her son and being a great sales person. Vicki Harmon Barnes, 88, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born May 2, 1936 in Newcastle, TX to Eugene and Nora Collins Harmon. She worked for Texas Electric Company in Monahans, TX as a customer service representative for twenty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cuero and loved her church family. She kept close tabs on all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved getting new pictures from them. She enjoyed living in the country and never met a dog she didn’t like!
