Hunt elementary students know the meaning of Thanksgiving
Hunt elementary students know the meaning of Thanksgiving
It was a wonderful surprise for the crew at Pet Adoptions of Cuero this month when the Hunt Elementary Student Council decided to share, care and help out the local pet shelter. The student group sponsored a pet food and shelter 'needs' drive to benefit the local non profit organization. Over 100 items were collected and the PAOC staff was delighted with the variety of donated necessities that they need and use every day to feed, clean and care for the homeless dogs and cats. Many of the students are pet owners or have adopted from Pet Adoptions of Cuero. It was easy for them to choose the best items to donate. PAOC wants to thank the students, their parents and their teachers for this much appreciated support for the shelter. 12/04/2024 06:21 PM

It’s Hook’em and Gig’em time once again in Texas
There are many Thanksgiving traditions, such as turkey and dressing, pumpkin pie, tamales, family gatherings and even football. For years, the Texas-Aggie game was a feature of a Texas Thanksgiving until A&M left the Big 12 Conference to join the Southeastern Conference . Those who bleed orange or maroon, and even those who just like the game, can enjoy this Texas football feud once again this Saturday after 13 years. The Cuero Chamber of Commerce will show the game on a big-screen TV under the Market Pavilion “I think rivalries are good for the sport,” Ray Reese, Cuero attorney and Baylor grad, said. “I think it is good for our state. There has always been a lot of tradition and, of course, the Thanksgiving tradition,” he said of the game coming back to Texas. 11/27/2024 01:52 PM

Gobblers peaking in time for Wimberley
In Region IV there are only two teams that have State Championship tradition and pedigree. Those teams are Wimberley and Cuero. The Texans have won five out of the last seven region titles (‘17, ‘19, ‘20, ‘22, ‘23). The other two were won by the Gobblers (‘18, ‘21). The two teams collide for the 17th time on Friday at 7:30 P.M., when the Cuero Gobblers (93) take on the Wimberley Texans (10-2), in the Regionals round of the playoffs at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos. Cuero holds a 9-7 alltime series lead, but the playoff series is 4-4. 11/27/2024 01:52 PM
