Think local, act local: do not bet against America
The election is finally over. Every election cycle, many Americans find themselves on an emotional rollercoaster. We cast our votes, participating in the democratic process outlined in our great Constitution, but often, we lose control over what happens next. It took me about 20 years after I began voting at age 18 to realize that I'd rather focus on things I can control.

4-H registration deadline approaching, canned food drive underway
September and October have flown by and have started the 4-H year off the best way possible! As we get further into the 4-H year, don’t forget that new 4-H enrollment and re-enrollment is occurring right now. All youth and adult volunteers must re-enroll annually. Cuero Livestock Show has an eligibility rule that all youth must be registered in 4-H or FFA on or before December 1st, 2024, to be able to compete in the livestock show, homemaking show, horse show, and ag mechanics show. The enrollment fees are as follows: $30 for 4-H members, $10 for Clover Kids, and $10 for Adult Volunteers. You can enroll at https://v2.4honline. com/#/user/signin. As a reminder, 4-H age is 8 years old and in the 3rd grade through 12th grade. Clover Kid age is 5 years old and in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. There are 43 different 4-H projects to choose from in the Texas 4-H program, which means showing an animal is not your only option! Our projects are based on and around Agriculture and Livestock, Family and Community Health, Leadership and Citizenship, Natural Resources, and STEM. We currently have monthly meetings for our youth involved in the county wide Sewing project, Robotics, Food and Nutrition, and Clover Kids Projects. We are always looking for adult volunteers to share their knowledge and expertise with our youth. If you have a passion for something and want to share it with the youth of DeWitt County, please contact Candace at the Extension Office to talk about being a registered volunteer for our 4-H program.

The Cuero Record Devotional Page
Life is short and should not be taken for granted. We should thank the Lord every morning and every night for the time He has given us on earth. No one knows the time the Lord is going to take us home to be with him or allow Satan to take non-believers to his hot place in hades.

Wow, six months have come and gone since my swearing in the Office of Cuero Mayor. Today is Veterans Day, a day to honor all those who have retired or served honorably in the Nation’s military, someone who at some time in their life, signed a blank check made payable to “The United States of America” for an amount up to and including, his/ her life.
