UHV international students visit the DWC Museum, Turkeyfest
The DeWitt County Historical Museum at 312 East Broadway was host to a tour group of University of Houston Victoria students enrolled in the UHV International program. Trip coordinator Julie Buchhorn from the program arranged for these students to see the Great Gobbler Gallop, the Turkeyfest Parade, and local museums. Students from Columbia, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Mexico and other countries learned about life in 19th and early 20th century Texas, the importance of the railroad, the Cuero tie to Indianola, and even something about log cabin life. Of particular interest was a broom machine in the log cabin that once belonged to Ms. Buchhorn’s grandparents.

Volunteers spruce up trees before Turkeyfest
On Saturday, October 5th, the Tree Board of Cuero organized a work day in the park to mulch the trees, prior to Turkeyfest. Young Gobblers volunteered their time and strength to help spread mulch around trees. A special thank you to Allan Hartman for providing and operating the tractor equipment. The job couldn’t have been done without the tractor equipment. Tree Board members, Bill Hickey and Tamara Kainer shared education with the volunteers on the benefits mulch provides to the trees. Mulch provides not only protection of the roots, but also nutrients and a moisture barrier.

The Cuero Record Devotional Page
Several years ago, I saw a billboard beside the Interstate that read “No God; No peace”; then the second line read “Know God, Know Peace.” What tremendous sayings these are. As a Born-Again Christian I truly understand these statements and find them to be one of the truest sayings that I have ever read.
