Knights of Columbus donate wheelchairs
Cuero Knights of Columbus Council 1682 contributed three wheelchairs, and Yorktown Council 2480 contributed one wheelchair, to Holy Family Hospital in the Catholic Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana, Africa. The Knights also contributed the cost of shipping to get the wheelchairs delivered. These chairs are made possible through the American Wheelchair Mission, a non-profit organization with the goal to deliver wheelchairs to the physically disabled throughout the world. Father Richard Bediako and Father Paul Otchere (pictured here) are both from the Diocese of Sunyani, Ghana and are currently Associate Pastors serving the Catholic Community of Cuero. Puppy Love, not just for kids
The crew at Pet Adoptions of Cuero had a fun afternoon recently sharing some puppy love with several of the residents at Cuero Nursing and Rehab Center. PAOC packed up three special pups for this event. And it was a pass, share, hug, cuddle and snuggle time for the fur babies. They loved getting all the attention and human contact with so many of the residents. The PAOC staff also loved hearing endearing stories some of the residents shared about their former pets. Many of them still had pictures galore to show on their cell phones of their former 'Fido' or 'Fluffy.' Thanks to Jennifer Wilson, activities director, for the invitation to this delightful pet related afternoon. 11/13/2024 04:15 AM

Meyersville School hosts Pet Adoptions of Cuero
The Pet Adoptions of Cuero team was invited to the Meyersville school this past week as a part of their Red Ribbon Week program. This special week is dedicated each year to educating everyone on making positive healthy choices and living drug free. The students enjoyed playing with and meeting some of the shelter dogs - GINO and PRINCE CHARMING and 2 new kittens - HUGS and KISSES. PAOC was able to interact with the children, advising them that having a pet requires lots of responsibility. It is definitely a 'healthy choice' to care for, train, feed, clean and physically walking and/or playing with a dog or cat each day. Pets are also great therapy. The duties required in pet ownership occupies lots of time and energy. It's the perfect way to be kind to your mind by living a drug free but 'pet ownership' lifestyle. It's a win-win for the pet and the pet parent. So many of the Meyersville students are already dedicated pet owners. The afternoon visit to the school with the homeless pets hopefully encourages more families to adopt a canine or feline in the near future. 11/06/2024 01:53 PM
