Visiting Angels elder care ready to help seniors
In December of 2024, new management of Visiting Angels officially took over serving the counties of DeWitt, Lavaca and Victoria. A national franchise, Visiting Angels has locations across the United States owned and operated locally that provide inhome elder care services. Visiting Angels can assist with bathing, dressing, walking, medication reminders, errands and shopping, light housekeeping, meal preparation, friendly companionship. The company serves those aged 18 and older, including disabled adults, veterans and senior citizens, in the comfort of their own home no matter where home is.

Fresh start: new DA office opens with clean slate
A new era of law enforcement in DeWitt, Goliad and Refugio counties began January 1 with the oath of office sworn by Brian Cromeens, the next 24th Judicial District Attorney. Supporters filled the upstairs courtroom of the DeWitt County Courthouse to witness the oath, which was administered by District Judge Stephen Williams.

Nursing students graduate from Victoria College
Fifty-four nursing students completed the intense studies of the Victoria College Vocational Nursing Program to graduate on December 19 at the Leo J. Welder Center. Three of the new nurses, Cayla Green, Dakota Ratjen and Emily Jones hail from Yorktown.

The Cuero ISD will hold its substitute training on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cuero ISD Administration Office located at 960 East Broadway, Cuero. A Walk in Wonderland
Many families took part in the 'Night of Lights' on Thursday, January 2nd, at Cuero Christmas Park. Sponsored by Cuero Regional Hospital, Christmas in the Park, and Be Fit Cuero Wellness Center, the event concluded with a delightful walk through beautiful lights, set against pleasant weather and filled with good cheer. A large crowd of hundred attendees gathered with family and friends to enjoy hot chocolate as they bid farewell to 2024.

Wolf named Texas Farm Bureau Pioneer
(ROUND ROCK, Texas) DeWitt County farmer and rancher Albert Wayne Wolf received the Texas Farm Bureau (TFB) Pioneer Award at the organization’s annual meeting in Round Rock. “Wayne was truly a pioneer in Farm Bureau, and we are proud to recognize him with this award,” DeWitt County Farm Bureau President Joseph Warwas said.

Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean's List for the 2024 fall semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean's List, fulltime undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
