Perry Knox Morris, 73, of Cuero passed away Friday, September 6, 2024. He was born November 11, 1950 in Ernul, NC to John and Minnie Knox Morris. He proudly served in the United States Army as an Orthopedic Specialist. He married Claudia Winegeart on April 14, 1973 in Gonzales. Laurie Jo Barfield of Yorktown passed away September 9, 2024 after a courageous battle against liver cancer. She was born June 14, 1956 to Joe and Evelyn Spies Barfield. Laurie graduated from Yorktown High School in 1974. She was a physical therapy assistant and home health provider for William Niemeier for many years. Laurie always said that caring for Will “saved her life” after Nichole died. Laurie and Doug spent many hours riding their Harley and participating as members of Gypsy Motor Cycle Club of Goliad. They also enjoyed their trips to Coushatta in Louisiana. Laurie provided a loving and safe environment for her mother when she was no longer able to live alone. 09/17/2024 12:25 PM

She married David Sparks on March 3, 1962 at Grace Episcopal Church in Cuero and together, they had 3 little rambunctious boys. While David was serving in the United States Navy and was away on maneuvers for nine months at a time, she cared for the boys all by herself and although it was a difficult and daunting task, she performed in an exemplary fashion.
