God first....Heavenly Father, today I feel alone, yet I am not lonely. There is peace in solitude while I pray in quietness to lead my thoughts to restful healing. Help me use this time alone to find myself and reach deep inside my heart and mind to find peace. Calm the spirit within me as I reach out for Your Amazing Grace and pray in the name of our dear Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. 01/28/2025 12:40 PM

Celebrating community and hope at Christmas in the Park
Celebrating community and hope at Christmas in the Park
Dear Editor, This past Saturday, I had the privilege of volunteering with the Cuero ISD Education Foundation at the annual Christmas in the Park event. Amidst the twinkling lights and festive decorations, I was reminded of the true spirit of Christmas—hope. It was heartwarming to see people from all walks of life, including those traveling from different states, coming together to enjoy the beautiful illuminations. As I engaged with attendees, I witnessed the profound impact this event has on our community. There were people facing tough battles, such as cancer and recovery from abuse, as well as those simply searching for a bit of joy during the holiday season. Seeing their faces light up with the Christmas spirit gave me a deep sense of warmth and a renewed sense of duty. It was a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness, like volunteering at such events, can bring immense joy and comfort to many. I am incredibly grateful to live in a community that supports this honorable display year after year. I’m also thankful to be part of an organization like the Cuero ISD Education Foundation, which dedicates its time to spreading joy through smiles, greetings, and even a peppermint stick for those passing through to enjoy the scenery. A heartfelt thank you to Christmas in the Park for bringing this magical experience to life each year, and to the Cuero ISD Education Foundation for their unwavering commitment to our community. It is moments like these that make me proud to call Cuero my home. This is truly the place you want to be. 01/08/2025 01:18 PM

Wastewater leaks from oil wells pose danger
The water that comes up as a byproduct of oil and gas fracking is becoming a bigger headache for the state’s energy operators and those who regulate them, the Houston Chronicle reported. Most of the “produced” water is injected into disposal wells that carry it into geologic formations for containment. 01/02/2025 11:37 AM

Dear Editor, On Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Chisholm Trail Heritage Museum, the Tri-City Empowerment Council sponsored a Christmas Celebration in honor of the Foster/Adopt Families TARE. This celebration was to recognize foster parents and adopt families for all of the selfless support that they give the children in their homes. It was also to spread hope and love to the foster children. The evening began with tours of the museum and continued with joy and festive live music played by the Wildcat Christmas Ensemble and a beautiful skit by Debbie Scott and Rogers Wardy that told the meaning of Christmas. Our night in Cuero ended with a ride through Cuero's Lighted Park with hot chocolate. 12/26/2024 03:33 PM

Dear Editor, On behalf of the Yorktown Western Days Association, I would like to take a few minutes to thank St Paul Lutheran Church members, Holy Cross Catholic Church members, and all the other local individuals who generously donated towards our Cowboy Claus campaign for this year. Each year we serve children ages 0-15 who are less fortunate with numerous toys, gifts, and other items they are in need of to make sure everyone has a magical Christmas. Without your donations and continued support we would not be able to provide this event. 12/18/2024 06:57 PM
