Teacher inspires students to examine American history
Yorktown secondary teacher Ellen Yosko was named the Yorktown Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8136 Teacher of the Year. She graduated from Stockdale High School in 2011 and went on to graduate from Texas A&M-San Antonio in 2016 with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. She has taught at Yorktown Junior High for all of her seven years of teaching. She currently teaches art, writing and English Language Arts, where she has been instrumental in molding young Yorktown writers to examine American history, along with their own experiences in modern America, when they participate in the annual Patriot’s Pen essay competition.
