League seeks nominations for local women who shape communities
Each March, the League of Women Voters of South Central Texas celebrates Women's History Month by recognizing special women in our community. In 2023, the League recognized the eight women serving as mayors of our South Central Texas towns. In 2024, they invited area high school students to recognize women who had touched their lives with poems and essays. In response to these events, many have told the League how important it is to share and celebrate the inspiring stories of local women and their contributions to our communities. These stories - too often untold - remind women of today and future generations that their voices and stories are vital to our collective history.

Kitty Kats improve to 9-5
The Yorktown Kitty Kat Varsity basketball team played five games this past week, winning two. On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the Kitty Kats traveled to Tilden to take on the McMullen County Cowgirls, ranked #17 in the TABC Class A polls. A different ‘board of education’ applied in ages past
GOD first...Heavenly Father, we thank You for the many blessings You continue to pour upon us. Your power is so great and our faith is so weak. We want so much to be the things You want us to be and do the right things You want us to do. Yet, we seem not to reach our goals and forget that You are the one that makes it all possible if only we will but follow Thy will in all things. Strengthen us Lord. Help us to go forth and serve You better. In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
