House unveils its voucher version
Texas House members filed a bevy of education bills last week, including a proposed $8 billion investment in public education and a voucher bill that ties the amount of money spent for private schooling to the dollar amount provided to public schools. The Austin American-Statesman reported the bill, filed by Rep. Brad Buckley, R-Salado, would increase the base level of per-student funding by $220 — from $6,160 to $6,380. Meyersville VFD serves savory beef stew
The Meyersville Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) held its annual stew fundraiser on a chilly and drizzly Saturday morning, February 22. Meyersville is located east of U.S. Highway 183 and about 14 miles south of Cuero. The fire station is conveniently located across from the quaint Meyersville store, with the eye-catching large yellow sign of Isaac Egg's Son Coca-Cola sign.
