BATON ROUGE Jeanette Yusko of Cuero, Texas, was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at University of Houston-Victoria. Vicki Harmon Barnes, 88, of Cuero passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025. She was born May 2, 1936 in Newcastle, TX to Eugene and Nora Collins Harmon. She worked for Texas Electric Company in Monahans, TX as a customer service representative for twenty years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cuero and loved her church family. She kept close tabs on all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved getting new pictures from them. She enjoyed living in the country and never met a dog she didn’t like! Kathy Lou Aschenbeck, 68, of Victoria went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was born December 20, 1956 in San Antonio to Ernest and Mabel McBride Denson. She married Darrell Aschenbeck on August 6, 1976 in Cuero. She was a sales associate for Ashley Furniture in Victoria. Some of her treasured accomplishments were homeschooling her son and being a great sales person. Pet Adoptions of Cuero was the recipient of “The Kindness Project,” created by educators at John C. French Elementary to show the children the importance of helping out local nonpro_ts. Students were encouraged to donate any pet food or supplies, cleaning supplies, even used towels and linens to help the many needs of the pet shelter.
