Both laughter and tears overflowed at the college signing ceremonies of Lady Gobbler seniors Sarah Rodriguez and Arissa Carbonara on National Signing Day, Wednesday, November 13. Gobbler’s defense picks ’Pickers
The Cuero Gobblers forced a total of five turnovers on their way to a dominating victory over the Robstown Cottonpickers, 55-6. The Gobblers finished the regular season with a 7-3 record and are headed to the playoffs, where they will face the La Féria Lions. 11/13/2024 04:15 AM

Wildcat win streak snapped
Friday, Nov 1 the Wildcats seven game win streak was broken after succumbing to the Falls City Beavers, 48-7. The Wildcats scored late in the game with 2:08 remaining when Brayden Knostman jetted 61 yards on a quarterback keeper play that ended as he crossed into the endzone on the right corner of the field. Other highlights include when Rylan Rau picked up a fumble in the third period and when Adam Serbin recovered a fumble on the 35 yard line in the fourth quarter. 11/06/2024 01:53 PM

Pirate Cross Country
The Pirates and Lady Pirates traveled to Round Rock to compete at the 1A State Cross Country meet. Senior Abby Klein had a fabulous run with a PR of 12:54 finishing in 14th out of 146 athletes. Junior Percy Torrez and Sophomore Skylar Garcia both had decent runs finishing in the top two-thirds. Nordheim ISD is proud of these three outstanding athletes. This was Abby and Percy’s third appearance at the state meet and Skylar’s second appearance at the state level. Congratulations to them on a job well done. 11/06/2024 01:53 PM

Kitty Kats co-champions, head into playoffs
Tuesday, Oct 28 the Kitty Kats finished off district play with a three set sweep against Pettus in an away matchup. Yorktown has accumulated a 2213 record and a 7-1 district record. Hornets Shutout by Stout Wildcat Defense
Friday, Oct. 25 the Wildcats remain undefeated in district play after defeating the Louise Hornets at home, 39-0. The Yorktown defense has dealt three shutouts this season with two back to back in the past two weeks. Defensive standouts Richard Flores, Rylan Rau, Adam Serbin, and Cameron Willis have a combined 175 tackles. Serbin leads the way with 52 total tackles. Rau, Willis and Flores have 42, 41 and 40 tackles, respectively. Matthew Olguin has given opposing quarterbacks distress, as he tops the wildcat leaderboard with six interceptions. Rau leads the team in sacks while senior Travis Buesing and sophomore Brayden Knostman have 37 and 30 tackles, respectively. 10/30/2024 06:21 AM

Villarreal celebrates 1,000 digs
On Tuesday, Oct 22 the Kitty Kats defeated the Bloomington Lady Cats, 25-14, 25-9, and 25-10 and senior Nina Villarreal celebrated quite the accomplishment as she has recorded a career high 1,000 digs. Villarreal is this year’s libero and is a four-year letterman. 10/30/2024 06:21 AM

Falls City matchup a true test
Falls City has an overall 5-3 record for the year. They opened the season with a loss to Three Rivers, 28-27 followed by a beat by the Poth Pirates, 5113, The Beavers were victorious in their last three preseason games against Stockdale, Brackett, and LASAA. In district they opened with a win against Louise 48-7 before being narrowly defeated by Dave Campbell’s Football Magazines predicted district champion, Shiner, 213.
